EA Motive spearhead new Iron Man game
Marvel Games and EA have announced the development of a new Iron Man game. From the team behind Star Wars Battlefront II, the single player game will be the first of many EA Marvel Games to come.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with the talented team at Motive Studio to bring their original vision of one of Marvel’s most important, powerful and beloved characters,” said Bill Rosemann, Vice President and Creative Director at Marvel Games
Focussing on the rich history of Iron Man, incorporating the character of Tony Stark, players get to immerse themselves into the billionaire’s world and live life as an Avenger. This new game marks the first non-VR solo game featuring Iron Man since 2010. Although the new phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are no longer featuring the first filmed Avenger, the game is set to allow fans to reminisce about the origins of the fandom.
Rosemann added: “Their experience delivering both established entertainment worlds and thrilling gameplay — combined with their authentic passion for the armored icon — will fuel our quest to deliver a love letter to a legendary hero in the form of the ultimate Iron Man video game.”
With the recent announcement of Marvel’s new projects at the recent D23 Disney and Marvel Games Showcase, it was made known that the Iron Game is the first if many Marvel centred gaming experiences that are planned for release. These will include a Black Panther/Captain America co-headlined adventure game along with mobile AR games from Pokemon Go developer Ninantic.
“It’s an honor and privilege to have the opportunity to make a video game based on one of the most iconic Super Heroes in entertainment today,” said EA Executive Producer Olivier Proulx. “We have a great opportunity to create a new and unique story that we can call our own. Marvel is encouraging us to create something fresh. We have a lot of freedom, which is so engaging for the team.”
Proulx has previously worked with Marvel titles such as Guardians of the Galaxy. With his previous knowledge of the cinematic universe, he, along with the dedicated team including Ian Frazier, Maelenn Luineau, and JF Poirier, will bring an invested attitude to the development and quality execution of the new gaming experience. EA announced that the new Iron Man game is currently in the phase of pre-production.
