Dan Levy set to make directorial debut for Netflix’s Good Grief

Multi-Emmy winner and star of Schitt’s Creek Dan Levy is set to make his feature directorial debut for Good Grief. The Parisian set film will star Levy alongside Loving Oscar nominee Ruth Nega, Yesterday’s Himesh Patel and Beauty and the Beast’s Luke Evans, amongst many more.

With production announced in July, primary casting was recently released, adding the faces to the heartfelt story. The film follows a bereaved widower on a weekend of self-discovery in the City of Love. Levy will star as widower Marc Dreyfus who begins to spiral following the passing of his partner. With the company of his two closest friends, Dreyfus takes a journey to Paris and ends up with more than he bargains for.

Good Grief is a cautionary tale about friendship and loss and all the mess that comes with it when the truth is something you’ve evaded for most of your life,” Levy says. “It’s funny, it’s bittersweet, it’s a project that’s helped me work through my own grief. And I hope it does the same for other people as well.”

Joining the cast are Celia Imrie of Better Things and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, BPM and Spring Blossom’s Arnaud Valois, David Bradley known for Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and Guillermo de Toro’s Pinocchio and Jamael Westman of Hamilton and The Essex Serpent.

Good Grief will be brought to streaming screens through the partnership between Netflix and Levy’s Not a Real Production Company. Producers include Levy, Not a Real Production Company’s co-founder Megan Zehmer, Sister’s Stacey Snider, Kate Fenske and Debra Hayward.
