Disney+ UK set to bring original comedy series Extraordinary
Bringing a new spin on the super hero story, Disney+ UK’s newest original comedy series, Extraordinary, will be released January 2023. From debut writer Emma Moran and the makers of Killing Eve, the series will feature a roster of upcoming UK talent.
Whilst most eighteen year olds were receiving their superpowers, ten years later, 25 year old Jen is still waiting for hers to come. With the help of her flatmates, and fuelled by the desperation to be ‘normal’, Jen navigates the dangers of her super power filled world, with her humanity as her only defense.
Series creator Emma Moran also serves as lead writer for the project. Moran will be making her writing debut with Extraordinary, alongside industry triumphs Sid Gentle. BAFTA, Golden Globe, Emmy and Peabody Award-winning production company Sid Gentle are well-known for their work behind Killing Eve.
Sally Woodward gentle, Lee Morris and Charles Dawson will serve as the executive production team on behalf of Sid Gentle, alongside Johanna Devreaux, Vice President of scripted content for Disney+ and Charlie Palmer as producer.
Extraordinary will be led by a cast of rising UK talent, including Máiréad Tyers. Sofia Oxenham, Bila, Hasna, Luke Rollason, Siobhan McSweeney, Robbie Gee and Safia Oakley-Green.
The newest project falls in line with Disney’s International Content and Operational team plan to create 60 local productions across EMEA by 2024. So far, the streaming platform has seen successful projects such as Wedding Season and the highly anticipated 9 November launch of David Beckham’s Save Our Squad.
