Apple TV+ announces season 2 of hit series Bad Sisters

Dublin set Bad Sisters is returning to streaming screens with season 2 announced by Apple TV+. The Emmy Award nominated and BAFTA Award-winning series stars Sharon Horgan alongside Anne-Marie Duff, Eva Birthistle, Sarah Greene and Eve Hewson.

“If you’d have told me three years ago that I’d be making a series about five murderous sisters chasing a man around Ireland trying to kill him I’d have said, ‘Yeah, that sounds about right,’” said star and executive producer Sharon Horgan. “The response to our show had been beyond what we could have hoped for. It gave us the opportunity to shine a light on stories that don’t always get such a global platform. I look forward to getting chilly in the Irish Sea one more time.”

Following the twisting and turning tales of the Garvey sisters, Bad Sisters is both a dark comedy and thriller ser against the landscapes of Dublin. Capturing the beauty of the regions’ coastal towns, Bad Sisters filmed its first season across Malahide and Skerries in the north and The Forty Foot, a well-known swimming spot in the south.

Also joined by cast members Claes Bang, Brian Gleeson, Daryl McCormack, Assaad Bouab and Saise Quinn, the series is executive produced and written by Horgan alongside Brett Baer and Dave Finkel. Originally adapted from the Belgian version entitled Clan, created by Malin-Sarah Gozin, Horgan, brings her own regionally specific flare to the story, reinventing it for a new audiences to love all over again.

Horgan, Faye Dorn and Clelia Mountford executive produce for Merman, and Gozin, Bert Hamelinck and Michael Sagol executive produce for Caviar. In addition to Horgan, Baer and Finkel, the series is written by Karen Cogan, Ailbhe Keogan, Daniel Cullen, Perrie Balthazar and Paul Howard. Dearbhla Walsh, Josephine Bornebusch and Rebecca Gatward serve as directors. Walsh also serves as executive producer. Bad Sisters is produced by Merman Television and ABC Signature, a part of Disney Television Studios.
