Film Lauderdale launches USD 10 million fund incentive
Local Florida based film commission Film Lauderdale announced the launch of their new Special Projects Incentive programme. With USD 10 million injected into the performance based programme, the hope is to attract more high profile feature film and television series contributing to longer term job creations. This investment is the largest incentive programme to be offered for film and television production in Florida.

“High level projects will be approved on a case-by-case basis, by a County Administration committee depending on the best ROI to the County,” says Sandy Lighterman, Film Commissioner of Film Lauderdale. “Criteria will be based on the number of jobs created, small business hired, the spotlight on our beautiful cities in Broward County, impact to the local economy, and other key considerations.”

Spread across a multi-year period, the new programme will join the county’s existing Film and Television Incentive programme. Through the existing programme ten projects have been contracted with a combined budget of over USD 7 million. Qualifying productions for the Special Projects Incentive programme must have a minimum spend of USD 5 million per project in the Broward county and a 10% rebate up to USD 1.5 million per project. After completion of the project and the meeting of all requirements, the performance based rebate will be distributed.
