Netflix releases Extraction 2 teaser

Following on from its climactic first release in 2020, mercenary Tyler Rake is returning once again for Extraction 2. After being presumed dead, Rake takes on another high stake mission. With the initial film shooting in India, Bangladesh and Thailand, the sequel travels to western and central Europe to backdrop the tense and action packed scenes. Extraction 2 will be released 16 June on Netflix.

The teaser which was released yesterday gives a taste of the excitement which is to be expected as Rake stumbles through a crowded battle ground of uniformed sergeants wielding batons and plastic shields. As smoke and fire cloud the scene and Rake is struck, hazy flashbacks as he tries to steady himself give insight into his mission and what the peripheral turmoil is obstructing him from.

Travelling to colder climate, the production travelled to the Czech Republic, filming on the outskirts of Prague. Set against the region’s wintry backdrops, the sequel paints a drastically different picture tot hat of its south Asian shot predecessor, but promises to pack much of the same high octane adventures as before. Living up to the expectations of the first film’s 11 minute fight shot, Hargrave made promise of something bigger and better at last year’s Netflix TUDUM online showcase which provided an exclusive behind the scenes look into the project.

Moving slightly West, the production set up in Austria to shoot in the Donaustadt area of Vienna as Rake progresses through his assignment to free a member of a Georgian crime family form an escape proof prison. Taking on the modern landscapes of Vienna from an aerial point of view, the city backdrops a helicopter chase scene that filmed overhead.

Marking his second film, Sam Hargrave returns to direct the follow up project alongside block buster making brother duo Anthony and Joe Russo as producer and writer. The first film displayed a stellar performance becoming the most watched original film premiere in the streaming service’s history, reaching 99 million households in the first four weeks of release. After reentering the Top 10 releases chart some time after its debut, the film closed out 2020 as the fourth most watched streaming of the year. As a result, anticipation and expectations for what is to come are high.
