They Cloned Tyrone trailer brings conspiracy to the community

The recently released trailer for Netflix’s They Cloned Tyrone, sees a criminal minded  trio played by John Boyega, Jamie Foxx, Teyonah Parris band together as something eerie takes over their neighbourhood. Unqualified but determined, the group take on the government conspiracy plaguing their community. Directed by Juel Taylor, the film is set for release on Netflix 21 July.

 

Juel Taylor will make his directorial debut with the release of They Cloned Tyrone, a science-fiction mystery starring Jamie Foxx, John Boyega and Teyonah Parris. Set for release on 21 July through Netflix, the film made its official debut at the American Black Film Festival held yesterday in Miami. The first trailer sees Foxx sporting an angular high top hair cut as he portrays pimp character Slick Charles, joined by ring leader Fontaine played by Boyega and Parris as Yo-Yo, “a pro” in their thieving world  of work.

Filming took place in Atlanta Georgia, beginning in November 2020 and concluding in April of the following year. POC led MACRO media takes the lead on production, adding They Cloned Tyrone to their roster of projects including Really Love, Gentefied, Raising Dion and Judas and the Black Messiah. In addition to the leading trio, casting also includes J. Alphonse Nicholson, Robert Tinsley and Kiefer Sutherland.

 

As well as director, Taylor, whose previous work includes Creed II, Shooting Stars and Young.Wild.Free,  serves as co-writer on the project alongside Tony Rettenmaier. Producers on the film include Foxx, Charles D. King, Stephen “Dr” Love and Datari Turner, with executive producers Mark R. Wright, Kim Roth, Jack Murray, Federal Films, and Monte Lipman. James Lopez and Poppy Hanks serve as co-executive producers.
