All the Light We Cannot See comes to Netflix

Shawn Levy’s All the Light We Cannot See is et to premiere of Netflix on 2 November. The series, based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Anthony Doerr, follows the tumultuous journey of Marie-Laure and her father who flee German-occupied Paris. The new release will star first time actress Aria Mia Loberti and Mark Ruffalo as the father daughter duo, amongst many others.

Honouring the source material, Netflix’s adaptation of All the Light We Cannot See will see the countless challenges that Marie Laure and her father face as they attempt to safeguard the priceless diamond from the Nazis as they flee German-occupied Paris. Filming for the upcoming Netflix series took place between March and July of last year, travelling to Budapest, Villefranche-de-Rouergue and Saint-Malo.

Ensuring the authenticity of the narrative, Loberti, who is actually blind was selected for the role, taking on her first acting job. For the younger version of Marie Laure, blind actress Nell Sutton also took on the role, a crucial element of casting for director Shawn Levy. To promote a wholly inclusive set, associate producer, and accessibility and blindness consultant Joe Strechay (Daredevil) was brought in as an initial point of advice from scripts to the audition process.

Levy, known for his work on Stranger Things and The Adam Project, takes to the helm of the project as well as serving as executive producer. Alongside him is Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight as the writer for the four episode limited series. Alongside Loberti and Ruffalo, many more of the books characters are brought to life, including Uncle Etienne played by Hugh Laurie, young orphan Werner, played by Louis Hofmann cruel Gestapo officer Von Rumpel taken on by Eidinger and Marion Bailey as Madame Manec.
