Santa takes on Saturday Night Fever in new Capital One commercial
John Travolta reprises his infamous Saturday Night Fever Role for Capital One’s holiday commercial…sort of. Donning a thick white beard and equally luscious locks, the actor strolls through the streets of New York, only this time, as Santa Claus. The project, orchestrated by production company Hungry Man was directed by Brian Buckley.
In a behind the scenes clip posted by production company Hungry Man, John Travolta speaks on the classic dance moves from Saturday Night Fever being embedded in his DNA as he recreates the same moves for Capital One’s festive stint for their seasonal commercial. Promoting the bank’s Quicksilver credit card, Santa is unstoppable as he strolls to the familiar backing track of the Bee Gees Staying Alive, tapping for purchases from glitter paint, disco balls and even fresh baked cookies. With a feature from Donna Pescow, the one minute short is a nod to nostalgia.
Travolta is no stranger to reliving past roles of his for Capital One, throwing it back to his time working on Pulp Fiction, even bringing in his old co-star Sammuel L. Jackson to bring everything together. Movie memories have also been a trend for Hungry Man as they reunited the stars of Mean Girls, bar Rachel McAdams, for a glimpse into the future of the plastics for a back to school stint directed by Lucia Aniello.
