The Location Guide round-up 2023

And just like that, The Location Guide has wrapped up another year. The team travelled, taking in the festival circuit from Cannes to Kinsale, celebrated the release of our makers magazines, welcomed faces old and new to FOCUS London, and revelled in all that has been accomplished at the Makers and Shakers Awards. Let’s take a look back.

Diving straight into the hustle and bustle, the team delved into the Spring edition of makers magazine, exploring everything from advertising in the cost of living crisis to picturing a future without TikTok. Issues were swiftly taken up as The Location Guide set up in the Palais of Cannes Film Festival. For the first year with a stand in the central hub of the festival, familiar faces and intrigued passers-by networked with the team on hand during the weeks.

Welcoming representatives from 84 countries and hosting 58 conference sessions and exhibitor presentations with over 200 expert speakers, FOCUS London 2023 brought a undeniable buzz to the Islington Design Centre on 5-6 December. For the two day jam packed networking and conference event, delegates and exhibitors gathered in the space of idea sharing and collaboration. With a thoroughly curated schedule of conferences ranging across industry conversations on AI to catering content for Generation Alpha, topics tapped into the ever changing landscapes of the industry.

This year’s Makers and Shakers awards once again concluded our two days of FOCUS, returning to the BAFTA Piccadilly. Hosted by comedian and podcast host Travis Jay, the annual celebration of innovation and creativity was a night of all-time highs, honouring the seven winning individuals and organisations shaping the industry as we know it, and a sharing a consciousness of what is to come. The 2023 edition of the awards was supported by sponsors United Airlines, RoCreativity, Centre Cinématographique Marocain, Dallas Film & Creative Industries, Fews Film Marquees & Temporary Structures, 2 In Tents, Barbican, Boomerang Carnets Media, and Florida Keys & Key West.
