Prime Video releases trailer for upcoming Mr and Mrs Smith reimagining

Prime Video have revealed the high octane trailer for their upcoming iteration of Mr and Mrs Smith. Taken on originally in 2005 by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, this serialized version stars Donald Glover alongside Maya Erskine, as the spy duo. The new series will be available for streaming on Prime Video on 2 February 2024.

 

Taking on a new perspective of the 2005 espionage film,  Prime Video’s Mr and Mrs Smith follows two strangers whose undercover jobs lead them  to them to an arranged marriage and an idyllic life living in a brownstone in Manhattan. Contributing to the authenticity of the city life, production took place during the summer of 2022 and partially during April of last year in New York City.

 

 

Atlanta creator and actor Donald Glover and actress, writer and producer Maya Erskine take on the roles of the elusive Joe and Jane Smith. Alongside them, the series will also star I May Destroy You creator and actress Michaela Coel, Paul Dano from The Fabelmans, The Big Lebowski’s John Turturro, Parkey Posey of Beau is Afraid, and Narcos actor Wagner.

 

Glover, whose past creator credits include Atlanta and horror series Swarm, will mark his second time as actor, writer and executive producer for a series on Mr and Mrs Smith. The multitalented creative will be joined by Atlanta collaborator and Fargo writer Francesca Sloane who will assume the role of co-creator. Yariv Milchan, Arnon Milchan, Michale Schaefer as executive producers, Jenny Robins, Stephen Glover, Hiro Murai, Anthony Katags and Nate Matteson will also join the team as executive producers.

 

 

Alexander Skarsgård from Big Little Lies, American Horror Story actress Sara Paulson, Sharon Horgan of Bad Sisters, Baby Driver’s Eiza González, Ron Perlman from Hellboy, The Rocketeer’s Billy Campbell and Úrsula Corberó from Money Heist, will also be joining in guest roles.
