Lucasfilm has had a long history with animated projects, with the first venture into the medium coming in 1985 with Star Wars:Droids and the first CG 3D animated Star Wars series The Clone Wars. In 2021, Star Wars: The Bad Batch became the first original animated series created for Disney+, capturing the immediate aftermath of The Clone Wars. From The Clone Wars to the upcoming six episode series, director David Filoni has been a constant collaborator.

Last year, Filoni stepped into his creator shoes for Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi exploring the paths of Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku on their very different Jedi paths. For the upcoming series, Filoni will also serve as supervising director and executive producer alongside Athena Yvette Portillo and Carrie Beck, Josh Rims will serve as co-executive producer and Alex Spotswood as senior producer.
