Advertorial: Madrid Film Office promotes forums on documentary distribution and artificial intelligence
On 28 May 2024, Madrid commenced their 21st edition of Documenta Madrid, the International Film Festival organized by Cineteca Madrid, the film thetare of the Madrid City Council. This year the festival, which will conclude on 2 June, reflects on what it means to film a city. Within the framework of the festival, Madrid Film Office, the audiovisual office of the Madrid City Council, joined forces with Documenta to promote its industry area, Documenta Pro, bringing together professionals to reflect on the situation and opportunities of the documentary sector.
With a two-day program curated by DOCMA, the Spanish Documentary Film Association, Documenta Pro 2024 conferences will focus on the distribution and exhibition of documentary films, offering a portrait of the different types of distribution opportunities available both in Spain and in other countries, as well as exploring actual paths for interaction between audiences and diverse narratives.
Along these lines, Madrid Film Office, together with the Academy of Television and Audiovisual Arts and Sciences, also organised in May their III Conference on Artificial Intelligence in the Audiovisual Sector, a meeting point to debate, reflect, and highlight the diverse opinions on the cultural change that is coming, with six round tables and six case studies throughout the days.
Under the title Challenges of the Last Tool, the conference brought together more than 300 professionals and 40 experts who addressed issues such as the impact of this new technology on the audiovisual industry as a whole, the threats and opportunities it offers to key professionals in the sector, the use of Artificial Intelligence in the field of animation, as well as the highlights of the new Artificial Intelligence Law recently approved in the European Parliament. In addition, case studies and specific presentations were offered on Artificial Intelligence for journalists, its use in Catalan electoral coverage, current affairs, and entertainment programs, as well as its application in VFX and influencer marketing.
Documenta Pro and the Conference on Artificial Intelligence are part of the actions promoted by Madrid Film Office to enhance the development of debate forums and meeting spaces for the Spanish and international audiovisual sector in Madrid. Another event to take into account is Animario Pro, held annually in October within the framework of Animario, the Madrid International Contemporary Animation Festival, which has become an unmissable event for the animation sector.
