Coppola returns to the Croisette with Megalopolis premiere

45 years after Apocalyspe Now won the Palm d’Or, Francis Ford Coppola is sue to return to Cannes for the In Competition screening of Megalopolis. The much anticipated flick stars Adam Driver as a driven architect set out on rebuilding a city after its experience with disaster. The USD 120 million priced project, self-financed by Coppola himself has recently secured European distribution.

 

 

With projects such as The Godfather, Apocalypse Now and The Conversation to his name, many are right in the anticipation for Francis Ford Coppola’s next epic. Filmed at Trilith Studios in Georgia, known for their long list of credits including Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Disney+’s Wearwolf By Night and Black Adam, Megalopolis is set to be a spectacle. Starring Driver, alongside Nathalie Emmanuel and Giancarlo Esposito, the feature follow an architectural visionary determined to create an  American utopia after a disaster leaves the city in ruins.

 

It has been announced that the film has secured distribution for five major European territories ahead of its Cannes debut, through Constantin Films for Germany and all German speaking territories including Switzerland and Austria, Eagle Pictures for Italy, Tripictures for Spain and Entertainment Film Distributors Limited for the United Kingdom, will Le Pacte for France announced last week.

 

The stars studded ensemble also includes Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Dustin Hoffman, John Voight, Laurence Fishburne, Kathryn Hunter, Grace VanderWaal, James Remar, Talia Shire and Jason Schwartzman. Megalopolis, a decades long passion project,  is written, produced and directed by Coppola.
