Marché du Film to welcome Shooting in Spain
ICEX-Invest in Spain brand Shooting in Spain will be at this year’s Marché du Film promoting the country’s foreign filming opportunities and the local investment into the audiovisual sector of Spain. Shooting in Spain will host their How to craft a world hit in Spain panel looking behind the creation of blockbusters In the Grey and The Assessment, as well as a networking cocktail on 17 May.
Moderated by executive director of ICEX-Invest in Spain Elisa García Grande, the How to craft a world hit in Spain panel will highlight the main reasons to film in Spain as well as putting a spotlight the key services available in the country that make it such a sought after filming destination. The panel will take an in depth look into Guy Ritchie directed In the Grey and The Assessment from French director Fleur Fortuné, breaking down how the projects respectively came to fruition with Spanish help.
The panel will feature participation from co-producers Stephen Woolley from Number 9 Films (UK) and Jonas Katzenstein from augenschein Filmproduktion (Germany) discussing why the decision was made to bring the project to Tenerife, as well as producer of Volcano Films Alejandro Álamo and Peter Welter of Fresco Films. Shooting In Spain will be situated in the Cinema from Spain pavilion which is where the company will host their networking cocktail event after the panel.
In the Grey, set for release on 17 January 2025, will star Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal Eiza González and Rosamund Pike. The action comedy filmed in Tenerife in the Canary Islands from September 2023. Second panel case study The Assessment is a sci-fi thriller starring Alicia Vikander and Elizabeth Olsen also filmed in Tenerife.
