Emily in Paris returns for season 4

Romantic comedy series Emily in Paris is due to make it’s return to Netflix on 15 August. With filming delayed by last year’s writer's and actor's strikes, the fashionable marketing executive continues her escapades through the French capital, this season taking on some Italian landscapes too. The series keeps France at centre stage this year as the new season kicks off on the tail of this year’s Olympics.

Making it’s much awaited return, Emily in Paris is back to showcasing the glitz and glamorous side of Paris. But this season, Emily expands her travels to Italy, shooting a portion of the show in Rome for the upcoming season. Single in Paris, Emily is sure to fumble through a bevy of complicated circumstances. Draped in the most extravagant fashions from designers including Chanel and Christian Louboutin, Emily’s life is all foreign fantasy backdropped by staggering sceneries such as Jardin du Palais Royal, Le Musée des Arts Forains, Sacré-Cœur and the Panthéon.

This season promises to be as drama packed as past seasons with the American finding herself somehow trapped in a love triangle made of her British businessman ex-boyfriend, French restauranteur love interest, as well as his ex-girlfriend and now mother of his child, who happens to be in love with another woman. All the while she must also navigate her hectic work life. For it’s rose tinted take on Parisian life, Emily in Paris garnered an impressive 117.6 million views within six days of its launch, landing in the Top 10 in 93 countries.

France’s production pipeline shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon, with film tourism a fortuitous side effect, alongside the droves of visitors spectating at the 2024 Olympic games. Lat year alone the CNC approved a total of 298 films, returning to pre-pandemic levels, with projects taking full advantage of the Tax Rebate for International Production (TRIP).
