Apple TV’s Bad Sisters returns for season 2
Back at the forefront of everyone’s suspicious minds, the Garvey sisters return for another suspense filled season of Apple TV’s bad sisters. Filmed on location in Dublin and Belfast, as well as a number of London based locations, the new season takes place two years after the unravelling of Grace’s abusive husband’s “accidental death”. Bad Sisters season two will premiere on Apple TV on 13 November for the first two episodes followed by a weekly episodic release through 25 December.
Filming for season two returned to Dublin, Ireland, including familiar locations such as Forty Foot and Sandy Cove, as well as Howth and Malahide. Ireland shot productions are eligible for the significant 32% tax credit issued for projects with a EUR 125 million spend. The dark comedy thriller also filmed in County Down location Warrenpoint, as well as popular destination County Wicklow.
Sharon Horgan, Anne-Marie Duff, Eva Birthistle, Sarah Greene and Eve Hewson return as the Garvey sisters return for the second season as well as new and familiar faces to the cast including Fiona Shaw, Owen McDonnell, Thaddea Graham, Barry Ward, Michael Smiley, Saise Quinn, Daryl McCormack, Yasmine Akram, Jonjo O’Neill, Peter Claffey, Deirdre Mullins, Lorcan Cranitch, Liz Fitzgibbon and Justine Mitchell.
The BAFTA Television sward winning series is executive produced by Horgan, Faye Dorn and Clelia Mountford for Merman. Dearbhla Walsh also serves as executive producer and director. Additional executive producers include Bert Hamelinck, Michael Sagol, Dave Finkel and Brett Baer. Finkel and Baer adapted the first season with Horgan from the Belgian series Clan, which was created by Malin-Sarah Gozin. Gozin also serves as an executive producer. Bad Sisters is produced by Merman Television and 20th Television, a part of Disney Television Studios.
Ireland is overflowing with filming opportunites, from capable crew to outstanding locations. Locally shot and acted projects such as Cillian Murphy’ s Small Things Like These, and international productions such as the second season of Netflix’s Wednesday are taking full advantage of what is to offer and amplifying the attraction of the country to global ears. Bad Sisters joins the globally celebrated roster of locally shot projects building the local industry both behind the camera and in front.
