Hungary remains as one of the top production destinations in Europe, with a 20 year strong 37.5% tax rebate and experienced local crew, welcoming large scale productions such as the upcoming F1 Bradd Pitt starrer and consistent investment from the National Film Institute. In the mix, Angel Films have contributed to a fruitful year of feature film and commercial production, including UK feature Desperate Journey (working title). A foremost presence in the local Hungarian and wider Central European screen industry, Angel Films have leant their services to an array of projects across all types of filmmaking.
“We are passionate about filmmaking, and we love every type of project—whether it's a feature film, commercial, music video, photo shoot, or any other content—regardless of budget size,” commented founder Zsofia Kende. “We focus on finding smart, effective solutions while maintaining the highest quality. Our goal is to put the most on the screen with every project—maximising the impact of every dollar spent, so the audience sees the value on screen. Thinking big but staying cost-effective.”
“Angel Films is pioneering a new way of thinking by developing its own projects and creating co-productions with a fresh approach. We produce Hungarian content in English, bringing in international directors and actors, while the entire production crew is made up of talented Hungarian professionals. This unique model blends local expertise with global talent, creating a truly collaborative international experience.”
With over 30 years in the industry working on more than 300 commercials and collaborating on feature projects, founder Kende brings her skills and global industry connections to the heart of the company. We spoke with her to find out more about who Angel Films are and their contribution to the industry.
“At Angel Films, we believe our name reflects our ethos. We aim to surround our clients with an ‘angelic’ crew, offering them a sense of ease as they navigate the production process. We are committed to delivering the highest quality service while also ensuring that our clients leave with joyful memories from the filmmaking journey. It’s a source of great pride and happiness when our esteemed clients choose to bring another project to Angel Films.”
“We have serviced several international commercials for clients from all over the globe, including productions from the USA and China too. We love working with diverse nationalities; each country's film industry has its unique needs and approaches, and we cherish the cultural diversity this brings to our work.”
With talented English speaking heads of departments and crew members, Angel films are equipped to service all kinds of productions in the most effective and efficient manner, making the most out of your experience in Hungary. In addition to being members of Production Link, AICP and Green the Bid, Angel Films also maintain an extensive location archive, offering location selections and budget estimates with a short turnaround.
“Many of the productions we work on are independent films in the small-to-medium budget range. We love working on these types of projects because they require a deep level of expertise to maximise the potential of every resource. We consider ourselves more than just a service provider—we feel like part of the project team, helping to bring the director’s vision to life.”
