Presidential drama unfolds in new Disney+ series Paradise

Paradise is nothing like it’s namesake as a murder and high stakes investigation set a once serene community on its head. Starring Sterling K. Brown and James Marsden, the project, directed and executive produced by Dan Fogelman shot in Los Angeles at the beginning of this year to capture the idyllic town home to some of the world’s most influential individuals. The series will premiere on Disney+ on 28 January with three episodes, followed by a weekly release.

As production levels struggle to hold on to what they once were in the filmmaking epicentre of Hollywood, Los Angeles still possesses something special for creators. Fogelman’s use of Los Angeles caters to his creation of the Utopian community which provides the residences for some of the most important and influential people in the world.

In the trailer released last month, Brown who plays Xavier Collins is a security details for the President caught in a high stakes investigation after the president played by Marsden is found dead and Collins is the last to see him. Whilst Collins keeps a calm and collected manner during his interrogation featured in the trailer, the tag line “read between the lies” reigns true and previous events allude to something more at hand.

Casting also includes Julianne Nicholson, Sarah Shahi, Nicole Brydon Bloom, Aliyah Mastin and Percy Daggs IV. Alongside Fogelman, Brown serves as executive producer with John Requa, Glenn Ficarra, John Hoberg, Jess Rosenthal and Steve Beers.

Paradise joins Disney+’s impressive 2025 slate which announced with a high octane trailer of never before seen footage. To mark the streamer’s five year anniversary, the lineup includes projects from Marvel, Star Wars, Hulu and FX such as season 4 of The Bear, Andor season 2, season 6 of the Hulu Original The Handmaid’s Tales, and many more. The 2025 slate screened in a two-minute star-studded video ahead od Marvel Studios’ Deadpool and Wolverine on the streaming service.
