Mickey 17 to premiere at Berlin International Film Festival

Robert Pattinson stars in the upcoming Mickey 17 from esteemed director Bong Joon-ho, marking his return to the black comedy genre following award-winning Parasite. The adaptation of Edward Ashton’s 2022 novel sees Pattinson play a disposable employee is sent on a human expedition to colonise the ice world Niflheim. The feature will be released in cinemas on 7 March.

 

 

Pattinson is scheduled for a jam packed feature rollout in the next few years, starting with the March release of Mickey 17. Bong continues his collaboration with Warner Bros., with this flick seeing the director also in the writing and producing seat, and the space set feature filming at Warner Bros. Leavesden.

 

Bong assembled a team of seasoned professionals for the film's production. Cinematography is led by Darius Khondji, known for his work on Okja and Evita, bringing a distinct visual style to the project. Production design is managed by Fiona Crombie, whose previous credits include The Favourite and Cruella, ensuring a visually compelling setting. The musical score is composed by Jung Jae-il, recognized for his compositions in Parasite and Squid Game, adding an auditory depth to the narrative.

 

 

Dan Glass, known for his work on The Matrix franchise, supervised the visual effects, ensuring seamless integration with live-action footage. The editing process was handled by Jinmo Yang, who previously collaborated with Bong on Parasite, aiming for a cohesive and engaging final product.

 

Robert Pattinson was confirmed as the protagonist, Mickey Barnes, in May 2022. The supporting cast includes Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo, bringing together a diverse group of actors known for their dynamic performances.
