Los Angeles readies the red carpet for 31st SAG Awards

The 31st Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards are set to dazzle audiences on Sunday, 23 February, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. This year's ceremony will once again be hosted by Kristen Bell with award presenters including Timothée Chalamet, Cynthia Erivo and Selena Gomez.

As the entertainment industry gears up for the highly anticipated 31st Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards industry experts and film enthusiasts alike recognise its significance within the broader landscape of the awards season. Positioned strategically between the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards, the SAG Awards have long been regarded as a key predictor of Oscar success and an influential event that celebrates the heart of filmmaking.

Kristen Bell returns to host the SAG Awards, this year also nominated for her role in Netflix's comedy series Nobody Wants This. The evening will also feature an impressive lineup of presenters, including Ariana Grande, Timothée Chalamet, Cynthia Erivo, and Michelle Yeoh. Chalamet, nominated for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival on 14 February, joins fellow nominees and past winners like Lily Gladstone and Jamie Lee Curtis in presenting awards.

Leading the film categories, Wicked has garnered five nominations, with standout performances by Erivo and Grande. A Complete Unknown follows closely with four nominations. In the television realm, Shōgun leads with five nominations, highlighting its exceptional ensemble cast. Other notable series include The Bear, The Diplomat, and The Penguin, each earning multiple nominations.

This year's SAG Life Achievement Award will be bestowed upon the iconic Jane Fonda, recognising her illustrious career and humanitarian efforts. Fonda's contributions to the industry and society have left an indelible mark, making her a deserving recipient of this prestigious honour.
