The Moment originates from Charli XCX's own concept, marking the inaugural project under her newly established production company, Studio365. Demonstrating her dedication to the craft, she collaborated closely with Scottish filmmaker Zamiri, who is set to make his feature directorial debut with this film. The screenplay is  co-written by Zamiri and Bertie Brandes.

The film's score will be composed by A. G. Cook, the founder of PC Music and a frequent collaborator of Charli XCX. His involvement ensures that the film's auditory experience will resonate with the distinctive hyperpop sound that fans have come to adore. David Hinojosa of 2AM joins the project as a producer, with A24, the studio behind critically acclaimed films like Midsommar and Uncut Gems, handling global distribution.

While specific plot details remain under wraps, The Moment is currently being filmed in various locations across the United Kingdom. This choice of setting not only reflects Charli's British roots but also aligns with the UK's rich cinematic history, offering a familiar yet dynamic backdrop for the film's narrative.

This project signifies a pivotal moment in Charli XCX's career as she transitions from music to film. Her previous on-screen endeavours include the documentary Charli XCX: Alone Together, which chronicled the creation of her album How I'm Feeling Now during the pandemic. Additionally, she has lent her voice to animated features such as The Angry Birds Movie and UglyDolls. However, The Moment stands out as her first major acting role in a scripted feature film, reflecting her evolution as an artist and storyteller.
