Comic Con first look at Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse promises an epic multiversal finale

It’s been a long wait, but Sony Pictures has finally pulled back the curtain on Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, the highly anticipated conclusion to its groundbreaking animated trilogy. At CinemaCon 2025, fans got their first official glimpse of the film, and the excitement has only intensified. With dazzling visuals, an emotionally charged storyline, and the return of fan-favorite characters, Beyond the Spider-Verse is shaping up to be the most ambitious Spider-Man film yet.

The film picks up right where Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023) left off, with Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore) trapped in a parallel universe that lacks its own Spider-Man. In a shocking twist, Miles discovers that in this world, his alternate self—Miles G. Morales (Jharrel Jerome)—has taken up the mantle of The Prowler, a role once held by his late uncle, Aaron

Meanwhile, in another dimension, Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) and Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson) are leading a rogue team of Spider-People in an urgent mission to bring Miles home. However, they are being hunted by the overzealous Miguel O’Hara (Oscar Isaac), aka Spider-Man 2099, whose strict control over the multiverse could spell disaster for Miles and his allies.

CinemaCon attendees were treated to an exclusive teaser, which showcased Miles swinging through a vivid, ever-shifting dimension while navigating conflicts with both friend and foe. The clip ended on a powerful note, with Miles defiantly declaring, "Everyone keeps telling me how my story is supposed to go. I’m gonna do my own thing," before leaping into the unknown.

The Spider-Verse franchise has already set new standards for animation, and Beyond the Spider-Verse is pushing the medium even further. Sony unveiled five stunning promotional images, featuring an even more experimental approach to visual storytelling. These images highlight the film’s signature blend of comic book-style textures, kinetic action sequences, and dazzling multiversal aesthetics.

Filmmakers Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson have teased that this film will be a "visual rollercoaster," designed to take full advantage of IMAX and large-format screens. The goal, according to producer Phil Lord, is to create "the most immersive Spider-Man experience ever seen on screen". 

Beyond the personal stakes of Miles’ journey, the film will also feature the return of The Spot, the enigmatic villain introduced in Across the Spider-Verse. This time, his powers have evolved, making him a true multiversal threat capable of unraveling entire realities. Meanwhile, Miles’ parents remain in peril, as The Spot's chaotic agenda threatens the very fabric of their world.

With a release date now set for 4 June , 2027, the countdown has officially begun. The Spider-Verse trilogy has already redefined animated filmmaking, and Beyond the Spider-Verse looks poised to deliver a thrilling, emotional, and visually spectacular finale.
