Casey Affleck, Robert Redford to shoot The Old Man and the Gun in Cincinnati

Following his recent win as Best Actor at the 89th Academy Awards, Casey Affleck’s next project, The Old Man and the Gun, will be shot in Cincinnati. While the locations have yet to be finalised, a number of scouts were sent to local farms, including one in Clermont County.

Film Cincinnati are currently in the process of sourcing extras for the production, before principal photography commences in April. The Old Man will be directed by David Lowery, while James M. Johnston and Patrick Newall are on-board as Executive Producers.

Robert Redford will star alongside Affleck, in what will be his last project before he retires. Redford recently completed filming on the upcoming feature, Our Souls at Night, which was shot on location in Florence and Colorado Springs.

Filming for The Old Man will begin just weeks after production on The Public came to an end. Directed by Emilio Estevez, the film was largely shot in and around the public library on Ninth Street.

Ohio enjoys a consistent stream of production activity, thanks in part to the state’s financial incentive on filming. A 30% transferable tax credit can be obtained upon meeting a minimum local spend of USD300,000.

The incentive applies to a wealth of production types, including music videos, video games and even commercials. Very few states offer incentive programmes that extend to commercials productions, among them being Texas, Minnesota and New Mexico.
