Maxwell House shoots coffee commercials along the Chilean coastline

With the help of production service company, Jacaranda Films, Maxwell House have shot their latest commercials on location in Chile. Two spots were filmed over the course of two days, produced by Sibling Rivalry and directed by Mikon van Gastel.

Rémi Noiriel, Executive Producer of Jacaranda Films explains: “we needed to find a great surfing beach with a nearby cliff that would allow us to shoot the surfing scenes for Boost and the ending sunset shot for Indulge. We found the place in the Maitencillo area which is located 100 miles away from Santiago, with several beaches where you can practice surfing. We finally chose Playa Abanico. Logistically it is a super film-friendly spot and has great waves. It was also just 15 minutes away from the Cerro Tacna cliff so that made for a great combo. We had rather big waves on the day and shooting in the middle of fall in cold waters was our bigger challenge. Our talent went in and out of the water and we had to keep her warm during those breaks."

This is an eco friendly neighbourhood where a lot of artists live. There we shot our Boost talent working on the board. Right there, in this guy´s huge yard we were also able to shoot the Indulge scenes with the Airstream trailer. Probably our biggest challenge on that day was logistics. The narrow streets of the neighbourhood plus the movement of the locals going out to their jobs while we were setting our base camp made for a busy morning. It was a great thing our Location Manager knew the place well and had allowed for enough time and space to park all of our vehicles.”

Chile is often visited by commercial productions due to the country’s many scenic locations and experienced local crew. Rémi Noiriel recently detailed how foreign Producers can navigate Chile’s early winter and use the weather to their advantage.

While non-applicable to commercials, Chile recently installed its first dedicated film incentive. A 30% tax rebate can now be accessed by feature films that shoot on location, while a smaller rate of 25% is available for television shows.
