Sci-Fi action feature with Chinese theatrical release currently filming in Oklahoma

The feature, filming in Oklahoma, also stars Chinese talent Shi Yanneng (Kung Fu Hustle, Ip Man) and Yi Zuo, member of popular band RTA as well as up and coming actress Ming Zi Yu (Over Again).

Dinosaur World tells the story of a group of gamers brought together by a breakthrough in virtual reality software making the contestants feel like they’re experiencing everything in reality. With a life-changing cash prize at stake for the winner, the contestants must compete against themselves and the fiercest predators to walk the planet – dinosaurs.

Principal production began on July 25th with an entirely local crew, and will proceed to film in multiple locations across Oklahoma.  Ryan Bellgardt (Gremlin, The Jurassic Games), who is directing the feature notes that “as an Oklahoma native, it’s an honour for me to be creating another feature film in my home state as well as introducing my great state to creators from across the globe”. Dino World Productions, Flame Node Production and Boiling Point Media are producing the film.

In China, the film is set for wide release including theatrical, TV runs and video on-demand on China’s top three online streaming services. High Octane Pictures are in charge of managing international sales.

Tava Maloy Sofsky, Director of Oklahoma Film + Music Office said “through the quality of the accomplished work they create, Ryan and the team at Boiling Point Media continue to help elevate the international visibility of Oklahoma’s film industry. In this case, the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program is not only growing our local film business, but also bringing global commerce to Oklahoma”.

The feature film is utilising the 35-37% cash rebate incentive that is available in Oklahoma. which provides a cash rebate of 35 – 37% on qualifying Oklahoma expenditures for film, television and commercial productions. The base rate of 35% on qualified Oklahoma expenditure lifts to 37% if a minimum USD20,000 is spent on music that has been recorded in Oklahoma. The minimum local spend is USD25,000 and the production must have a minimum total value of USD50,000.
