Screen Suffolk launch a new crew database

In the wake of Covid-19 Screen Suffolk are encouraging filming in the county by making it as easy as possible for productions to shoot.

The new database will make it as easy as possible for productions to access local crew. Anyone who can work in Suffolk without requiring an overnight stay can register.

The county film office has reopened for business and all staff are trained in Covid-19 procedures. Screen Suffolk manages all incoming TV and film productions, issues film licences and manages over four hundred and fifty locations across the county.

Rachel Aldridge, Operations and Business Development Manager at Screen Suffolk says “The best way to encourage productions here in this post Covid-19 era is by carrying on making Suffolk incredibly film friendly with easy access to crew, locations and facilities”.

Jim Horsfield, Operations and Business Development Manager adds “We’ve managed to build on the number of films and high end dramas that have come to Suffolk since our launch in 2016.  The best way to continue to get productions to Suffolk is by making our fabulous locally based crew as accessible as possible”.

Recent film and TV productions to have filmed in the county include Yesterday and The Personal History of David Copperfield which both used crew from the area.

Upcoming release The Dig, based on the true story of the discovery of Sutton Hoo which stars Ralph Fiennes and Cary Mulliagan also shot in the country at Butley, Thorpeness and around Snape. Snape maltings was used as a base for all the crew and facilities.

The new Screen Suffolk Crew Database has a user friendly registration process that professionals can update on an ongoing basis. To register, professionals should visit the website.
