Bridging the Dragon call for entries to its Project Lab

The sixth edition of its intensive workshop and think-tank for projects that are suitable for collaboration between Europe and China is going ahead. The call for entries is open until Wednesday 23 September, 2020.

6-8 European and 6-8 Chinese projects with a clear perspective of Sino-European interaction will be selected. Four industry professionals without a specific project who wish to to develop their activities across Europe and China will also be selected to join the sessions together to benefit from the discussion. Due to a partnership with the New Zealand Film Commission, projects from New Zealand are also welcome.

In view of the pandemic, the first part of the current edition will be held online and shaped for the virtual space, while the second part is planned for China or Europe possibly in connection to a major film event, as circumstances allow. Participants will be coached by recognised writing tutors and will have the chance to interact with producer counterparts, in order to overcome cultural differences, expand networks and improve project feasibility and storytelling.

The Project Lab has run for five consecutive years, and has been proven to be a breeding ground for valuable content. It has fostered a number of collaborations among the attendees in the area of co-production but also financing, acquisition and long term partnership. Some examples include The Italian Recipe (Italy / China / Germany) which is completing post-production; Hidden Under Moss (UK / China) was selected for the markets of the Hainan Island International Film Festival in 2019 and Shanghai International Film Festival this year; through the Project Lab Mosaic Portrait, received sponsorship from the ARRI International Support Program and Salli (Taiwan / UK) was selected for Berlinale Talents.
