San Sebastian hosts advertising spot directed by Tony Kaye

More than one hundred extras are involved in the three-day shoot for a Whisky brand.

Grammy award winning director Tony Kaye (American History X) directs the spot which is shooting in San Sebastian’s Concha beach and the old town. The spot titled Hay Ganas shows the desire to return to normality and celebration.

Marisol Garmendia, The Councillor for Economic Development stressed that "San Sebastian not only it hosts relevant film shoots, but is also attractive for filming. Advertising ads that are usually very profitable in terms of economic impact: they attract to large teams, make use of the services of local companies and mobilize a large amount of extras. In this case an estimated investment in Gipuzkoa of EUR325,000 is calculated. In addition, the inconvenience they cause in the city are better than with the filming of a film".

The Gipuzkoa region of northern Spain has attracted a number of productions in 2021. These include the second series of Amazon series El Internado – Las Cumbres, feature film Maixabel by Iciar Bollain that details true story of a murder of a Basque politician, TV series Welcome to Eden for Netflix is an eight part thriller that also filmed in Playa de la Concha, the old town, Palacio Miramar and the port. In 2020 Spain increased its production incentive, and now provides 30% for feature film, TV and post production work on the mainland. The Canary Islands provides 50-45% rebate.
