Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden launch virtual production stage

The V Stage is one of three new sound stages at Warner Brothers Studios Leavesden. will be one of Europe’s largest virtual production stages with 24,000 square feet of total space.

Virtual production stages allow productions to implement a range of technology and processes that facilitate the creation of virtual characters and environments that can be shot in camera and manipulated in real time on set. The fast evolving form of production is becoming more widely adopted.

V Stage is one of Europe’s largest virtual production stages. Offering 24,000 square feet of total space, the inside will feature a 7,100 square foot wraparound virtual production environment, using a matrix of more than 2,600 LED panels integrated with a powerful, state-of-the-art processing system. Bespoke to this design is a dynamic ceiling offering an additional 5,544 square foot of LED panels with eight sections that work independently of one another, lifting and tilting to provide a new level of creative scope.

“The launch of V Stage brings a completely new dimension to filmmaking at WBSL, providing an exciting environment in which to deliver a new level of creativity,” said Emily Stillman, SVP, Studio Operations, Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden.

The V Stage is one of three new stages that are adding an additional 83,000 square feet of production space at  the Leavesden Studios. Since opening in 2012 has facilitated production on for franchises including Harry Potter, Mission Impossible and Paddington and Star Wars. There are now 19 soundstages, two water tanks and an extended backlot with over 150 acres of clear horizon exterior landscape. It also has the only on-lot childcare facility in the UK.
