Finalists announced for makers & shakers Awards 2021

The shortlist for this year’s makers & shakers Awards has been revealed. Winners from the six categories will receive their prizes at a special live ceremony taking place at London’s recently-renovated BAFTA Piccadilly on 8 December 2021.

“We are elated by this year’s response to the awards,” emphasises Jean-Frederic Garcia, Event Director for makers & shakers. “It is clear to see that the shortlist for 2021 captures the high levels of achievement that makers & shakers is designed to applaud, highlighting the commendable work taking place across the international production support industry.”

An expert panel of reputable judges will include key representatives from Warner Bros, Studio Leavesden (UK), LMGI and PACT, as well as last year’s winners. “The response from our judges has been really enthusiastic,” notes makers & shakers’s Awards Producer, Claire Budd. “Excitingly, the final judging meets are taking place this week – and the winners will soon be decided!”

The six main categories are: Film Commission Initiative of the Year, Initiative to Grow Local Industry, Outstanding Creative Use of Location, Production Tech Innovation Award, Sustainability Award, and Shaker of the Year. Nominees were appraised for evidencing innovation, creativity and their overall impact in both the long and short term. The final shortlist applauds the most ambitious and enterprising work being carried out today – from growing local industry talent to producing sustainable approaches to filmmaking.

“Of course, 2021 was a very complicated time, generating numerous new obstacles,” muses Garcia. “However, the reaction from our sector was characterised by nothing less than courage, determination and resilience. We cannot wait to bring the global screen industry together – celebrating everyone’s achievements in the face of adversity – this December.” The final shortlist is available to view online. Tickets for the makers & shakers Awards 2021 include champagne on arrival at 7pm, the main awards ceremony at 7.45pm and then a networking session with drinks and canapes from 8.15pm to 10.30pm. Tickets are available to book online now.
