Crew United launches online platform Filmmakers-for-Ukraine

Crew United has launched an online platform to help people in Ukraine. Filmmakers-for-Ukraine is an information site where Ukrainian filmmakers and their families can quickly find help. In collaboration with professional associations, institutions and numerous colleagues from the film industry, Filmmakers-for-Ukraine provides updates about aid and support in a simple, up-to-the-minute manner. Vulnerable or disadvantaged communities in Ukraine - such as BIPoC, LGBTQIA+, Roma, people with disabilities, children, and sick and elderly people - are also offered support alongside filmmakers and their families.

"Our actual mission is to connect people to make films together, but right now it is just more important to bring people together to help people," explains Crew United's CEO Oliver Zenglein.

Specialising in information from the film industry, Filmmakers-for-Ukraine platforms petitions and appeals as well as fund-raising campaigns and offers of assistance. The website covers key topics such as transport, shelter, work, medical assistance, food and clothing. There is an information page curated by film journalists, containing sources of important documentary and feature films about Ukraine.

"With Filmmakers-for-Ukraine we are focusing on the work, the offerings and the network of initiators in our industry, because we have great contacts there," says Zenglein, drawing on the resources from his extensive network for assistance.

The website offers blog reports focussing on key cultural activities in place to support Ukraine, as well as urgent calls for help from people in need, and contacts for psychological and legal aid. Crew United’s job and accommodation market is also set to be expanded, advertising jobs and housing opportunities for Ukrainian filmmakers.

Having been active in the Polish and French film industries for a year, Crew United is now preparing launches in Lithuania, Romania, Greece, Italy and Spain. Their site already provides information about assistance and activities in Poland, Lithuania, Romania and other European countries, and far more information is constantly being added.

Filmmakers-for-Ukraine has been set up in no time flat, and we are growing it every day. We are always grateful for anyone who wants to help," announce the Crew United editorial team in an official statement. “We are looking for partners and backers from the industry who can provide helpful information and notify about planned activities. We are in urgent need of volunteers to help us keep our information well-structured and up-to-date.”
