New members announced for PGGB's Northern Ireland Committee

The Production Guild of Great Britain (PGGB) has revealed the members of its new Northern Ireland Committee. This announcement marks the second of six National and Regional Committees being establishing by the UK’s leading membership body for production professionals. The PGGB Northern Ireland Committee is sponsored by cast and crew specialists Sargent-Disc. It will be chaired by Belfast-based freelance producer Amanda Black, who is currently producing Mammoth Screen’s second series of BBC One war drama World on Fire.

Amanda Black will chair the new Northern Ireland committee

“I’m delighted to be chairing the Production Guild’s new Northern Ireland Committee,” emphasises Black. “At a time when our industry in Northern Ireland is stronger than ever, it’s important that those working behind the camera are well represented by national organisations that represent the UK industry as a whole. The launch of this committee is another strong step in that direction. I look forward to working with my colleagues and putting Northern Ireland further on the map as a place of excellence for filming.”

The vice-chairs of the new committee are: Paula Crickard, head of post-production at Nu Boyana Studios, whose feature film credits include Everton, Howards Way and Winter; and production accountant Michael Kilpatrick, whose credits include Games of Thrones and new Florian Zeller feature The Son.

Location manager Naomi Liston - winner of the Outstanding Creative Use of a Location category at 2021’s makers and shakers Awards for her work on The Northman - is a member of the new committee. She joins production manager Darren Chesney (The School for Good and Evil, The Northman); production accountant Richard Henry (Rush, Cats); production manager Stacey Quigley (Invasion, Dungeons & Dragons); and Louise Morrison, a production accountant and training consultant delivering ScreenSkills’ UK Assistant Production Accountant Apprenticeship.

Following the launch of the Bristol and South West England Committee in September, the PGGB's Northern Ireland Committee is now the organisation's second National and Regional Committee. Four more committees will launch in Scotland, Wales, the North West of England and Yorkshire in the coming months.

Each committee is scheduled to meet a minimum of four times per year, delivering a variety of activities such as masterclasses and networking events. PGGB’s Chair and CEO Lyndsay Duthie will meet with the chairs of the six National and Regional Committees annually, creating a steering a group. These six locations have been selected in line with the British Film Commission’s Stage Space Support Development hub centers.

“By creating a network of professionals based across the country, we’re enabling better dialogue about how to target industry support that suits differing needs on the ground,” explains Duthie. “With recent hits including The Northman, Belfast, Derry Girls and Game of Thrones, and upcoming releases like Dungeons & Dragons to look forward to, Northern Ireland is generating some of the most exciting screen content in the country. I’m pleased that this new committee will help PGGB better represent the interests of its production professionals.”
