LMGI announces the winners for their 9th annual Awards show

The LMGI Awards took place this past Saturday 27 August 2022. Winners included House of Gucci, No Time to Die, Stranger Things, Succession and Station Eleven, with esteemed honours received by Orlando Bloom, Martin Scorsese and many more.

Shining a spotlight on the innovative and creative use of locations in international feature films, television programmes and commercials, the LMGI Awards celebrated the top performers in the industry. Black Monday actor Paul Scheer introduced the night with a touch of comedy, offering a light-hearted lead up to the following excitement.

House of Gucci and No Time to Die were the motion picture winners at the event. The biographical drama of Patrizia Reggiani’s involvement with the Gucci family won Outstanding Locations in a Period Film for their work throughout Italy, in Milan, Lake Como and the Italian Alps. No Time to Die, the most recent James Bond instalment was celebrated for Outstanding Locations in a contemporary film. The action franchise made use of settings in London, Norway, Jamaica, The Faroe Islands and Italy.

Mike Fantasia, location manager on Top Gun, presented the Eva Monley Award to iconic director Martin Scorsese for his 50 years of experience in the film industry. Orlando Bloom, known for his role in Pirates of the Caribbean received the LMGI Humanitarian Award for his involvement as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. This was presented by KTLA Morning News co-anchor Megan Henderson. Clay Griffith, production designer presented his long-time friend and location manager Joe Panzarella with the Lifetime Achievement Award. The final honouree, Joanelle Romero received the 2022 Trailblazer Award. Presented by location manager, and LMGI’s first vice president, Alison Taylor, the award celebrated Joanelle’s contribution to making the film industry and inclusive space.

Other production winners included the fourth season of Stranger Things, celebrated for Outstanding Locations in a Period Television Series, Succession season three for Outstanding Locations in a Contemporary Television Series and Station Eleven for Outstanding Locations in a Serial Programme, Anthology or Limited Series. Oklahoma Film and Music Office won for Outstanding Film Commission, and Crown Royal: Kickoff with Crown received the honour of Outstanding Locations in a Commercial.
