Foxtel Group becomes exclusive home for WWE in Australia

Announced on 27 September 2022, the Foxtel Group has been established as the sole destination for WWE content in Australia. A multi-year deal has been struck between the two companies, with streaming service BINGE set as the source of entertainment from January 2023.

WWE chairwoman and co-CEO, Stephanie McMahon, commented: “With its far-reaching and engaged audience, the Foxtel Group has been a trusted and long-standing partner of WWE for more than 20 years. We look forward to expanding our partnership with the Foxtel Group, and welcoming BINGE as the new streaming home of WWE Network in the region.

With 4.5 million subscribers, Foxtel, is the go-to subscription television company. In launching their 24/7 WWE channel, which will be available from December 2022, the platform will be able to broadcast premium live events to the dedicated fans. From Royal Rumble to WrestleMania 39, this partnership will allow for the biggest line up of events to be streamed to a wider audience on the South Pacific continent.

“The reach of the Foxtel Group is a game-changer for our partners such as WWE. It’s why sport and entertainment partners in Australia and around the globe, including major Hollywood studios and world-leading sports and now WWE, continue to choose the Foxtel Group to showcase their content and build their audience reach in Australia,” said Foxtel Group chief content and commercial officer, Amanda Laing. “

“For generations WWE has delighted fans across the globe and we’re thrilled this expanded partnership makes BINGE the new streaming home of WWE in Australia,” added BINGE executive director, Alison Hurbert-Burns. “We can’t wait to bring WWE’s unpredictable drama, larger-than-life personalities from past and present including Roman Reigns, Rey Mysterio, Ronda Rousey, John Cena and The Undertaker, along with all the world-class WWE action to passionate Australian fans.”

The group’s subsidiary entertainment streaming platform BINGE will allow viewers to access WWE content from wherever they are, also giving access to original and archived content. In addition to Foxtel and BINGE subscribers, WWE content will be available to watch through the FOX8 channel. This viewing comes at no extra cost to already existing subscriptions, a shift to the AUD 30 pay-per-view format that came before. Foxtel Group’s sports streaming platform will also be able to preview content to its one million subscribers for select events.
