Lindsey Lohan brings the festive feeling in Falling for Christmas

Lindsey Lohan is taking on the role of Sierra Belmont in Netflix’s upcoming holiday movie Falling For Christmas. Starring alongside Chord Overstreet, the film will be directed by Janeen Damian and set against the snowy backdrop of Utah. 


Marking Lohan’s first project with Netflix out of their creative partnership,
Falling for Christmas follows hotel hostess Sierra Belmont who loses her memory after a getting into a skiing accident. Thrown off course from her engagement, Belmont finds herself in the care of a widower played by Chord Overstreet, known for his role in Glee, and his daughter played by Olivia Perez.

 

 

“Christmas is a time when family comes together,” Lohan tells Tudum. “It’s such a loving holiday.”

 

Production for the festive film bagan in Utah during the latter part of 2021, making use of the snow covered landscapes of Salt Lake City. With support from the Utah film commission, the project was able to take advantage of the state’s 25% tax credit. 

 

Janeen Damian will be making her directorial debut with the film, on which she also has co-writing credits. Whilst her first directorial endeavour, Damian is not new to the Christmas theme, with writing credits also on Netflix favourites A Princess for Christmas, A Royal Christmas and the upcoming Christmas in Transylvania.

 

Along with Damian is her husband Michael Damian, as well as Jeff Bonnett and Ron Oliver. The Christmas Prince trilogy and Princess Switch producers Brad Krevoy and Amanda Phillips will lead as executive producers. 

 

Director Janeen Damian will not end her work with Lohan here. Rekindling their working relationship, the two are set to collaborate on another romantic comedy called Irish Wish. Aptly set in Ireland, the film will be written by Kirsten Hansen and star Lohan as a bridesmaid who makes an iladvised wish to become the bride. 

 

Amongst the slate of Christmas releases that Netflix is set to launch for the season, Falling for Christmas will hit streaming screen 10 November.
