The Location Guide Round-up 2022

2022 has been another extraordinary year for The Location Guide with plenty of excitement and quality performances from the whole team. Two new issues of makers magazine covered some of the most topical content in our industry, while FOCUS and the makers & shakers Awards, in partnership with Radisson Hotel Group, brought us all together to examine our industry in even more detail, network and celebrate the greatest creative talent.

All hands were on deck for the return of FOCUS: the meeting place for international production, which was back at the Business Design Centre in London for two days of in-person networking (6-7 December), followed by a two day virtual experience (8-9 December). Creating a space for conversations and idea sharing, this year’s event saw a record 122 countries and over 200 exhibitors, as well as a total of 192 expert speakers, delivering inspirational talks that addressed the key talking points of 2022 across film, TV, advertising and interactive.

Exploring some of the biggest changes happening in the visual industry, the tenth edition of makers magazine offered insight into the debates on topics including the rise of artificial intelligence, the shifting structure of streaming services and the continued fight for inclusivity. The magazine also talked about the most current location activity, keeping on top of events such as the return of filming powerhouse New Zealand and the management of the Welsh production boom.

2022 was packed with memorable moments of collaboration, conversation and change.

The makers & shakers Awards, in partnership with Radisson Hotel Group, finished the year with an evening of recognition and celebration of some of the industry’s most innovative and creative minds. Returning once again to the beautiful BAFTA Piccadilly, the third annual awards show was filled with laughter as host Darrah Griffith delivered punchline after punchline.

Made possible by silver sponsor First Poly Production, gold sponsor St. Pete Clearwater Film Commission, category sponsors Neom and Pholex, and headline sponsor Radisson Hotel Group,  the evening saw winners across seven categories.

As faces old and new came together this year, 2022 was packed with memorable moments of collaboration, conversation and change. We hope you enjoy a well-deserved break and take the time to recharge in preparation for the year to come. Here’s to a prosperous 2023!

All the best,

The Location Guide Team
