Lebron James produced House Party remake airs today

Nothing says end of the working week like a house party, and today's release of the reinterpreted 90’s classic is just in line with that. Produced by Lebron James and Maverick Carter, the January 13th release of House Party will star Tosin Cole and Jacob Latimore as Damon and Kevin whose house party plans take a wild turn.

Originally starring Christopher Reid and Christopher Martin, also known as nineties hip hop duo Kid ‘n Play, the original 1990 iteration kept filming in the California area. This time around, the New Line Cinema production returned to Los Angeles for principle photography with the majority of filming taking place in Atlanta.

Charles Kidd II, known professionally as Calmatic, will serve as director on the project. The South Central Los Angeles born filmmaker is known for his music videos and commercial work including  Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road and upcoming Kenya Barris remake White Men can’t Jump.

Stephen Glover, developed the screenplay for House Party alongside Jamal Olori. Both are known for their work on FX hit drama Atlanta and Amazon Prime’s Guava Island starring Glover’s brother Donald and Rihanna. Joining Glover, Olori and Kidd are Lebron James and Maverick Carter.

James, the four time NBA champion, has a long history with film, serving as producer on Adam Sandler led Hustle on Netflix, as well as starring in and producing for Space Jam: A New Legacy. The basketball star is also the owner of production company SpringHill Company, who take the lead on House Party. James will be working alongside American sports-marketing businessman and media personality Maverick Carter, also involved with SpringHill Company.

In addition to Latimore and Cole, the cast will include Andrew Santino, Allen Maldonado, Karen Obilom, Tamera Kissen, Melvin Gregg, Rotimi, Bell Bellamy, Shakira Ja’nai Paye, nakia Burrise, DC Young Fly and many others. The star studded cast will also be joined by Kid Cudi, Lebron James, Lil’ Wayne, Snoop Dogg, Lena Waithe and Anthony Davis, all playing themselves.
