Film Academy Invitees include six LMGI members

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited 819 artists and executives to join the organisation. Six LMGI members including Harriet Lawrence and Todd Christensen are included in the 2020 class.

The six LMGI members on the list are:

Harriet Lawrence (Suffragette, Overlord)
Markus Bensch (V for Vendetta, Bridge of Spies)
Michele St-Arnaud (Arrival, X-Men: Days of Future Past)
Todd Christensen (Moneyball, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs)
Robert Foulkes (Ford v Ferrari, La La Land) Janice Polley (Blackhat, Collateral)

In 2013, Lori Balton, founding member of the LMGI became the first location professional to be accepted as a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences after working on productions including The Pirates of the Caribbean and Transformers franchises. At the time she noted that "truthfully, this is not about me, but rather about a location professional getting recognition from the film industry at large".

As a whole, the 2020 class is 45% women, 36% underrepresented etnic/racial communities. 49% of invitees are international deriving from 68 countries. The Academy notes that it has surpassed its goal to double number of women and underrepresented ethnic/racial communities by 2020 set in 2016.

The next phase of its equity and inclusion initiative, Academy Aperture 2025 looks to further advance inclusion in the entertainment industry and increase representation within its membership and the greater film community.
