Seville prepares to welcome producers for 3rd Commercial Film Workshop

Seville in south-west Spain is preparing for its 3rd Commercial Film Workshop. The industry event takes places this year on 14 and 15 November and offers talks and seminars discussing the advantages of filming commercials on location in the Spanish city.

The workshop is being organised by Seville City Council’s External Promotion Office (APPES) in conjunction with Deluxe Spain and Asociación de Productoras de Cine Publicitario - the Association of Advertising Film Production (APCP).

“This edition, the Commercial Film Workshop gathers not only a substantial number of advertising film producers, Spain’s Club de Creativos advertising agencies, but also a delegation of producers from Serbia, Croatia and Estonia, who [come to] our city as a set for filming, as well as our [own] audiovisual industry,” commented the organisers.

Producers will in fact have the opportunity to scout potential filming locations in Seville on the afternoon of 13 November, before the conferences and seminars begin the next day at the Seville Chamber of Commerce.

Seville offers a vast array of filming locations with historic sites dating back to the Roman era and architecture also influenced by centuries of Arab and Jewish heritage.

The workshop is being organised by Seville City Council’s External Promotion Office (APPES) in conjunction with Deluxe Spain and Asociación de Productoras de Cine Publicitario.

As a country, Spain is a popular filming location. Recent high-profile commercial campaigns include Volvo Trucks’ Technician, Hamster and Chase spots, and EA Sports’ We Are FIFA 14, while soft drink brand Fanta filmed on Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands.

Tax breaks available through European Economic Interest Groupings are enabling more big-budget feature productions to film in Spain as well. Ridley Scott is scheduled to spend the next few months filming his biblical epic Exodus on a sprawling set build in the Almeria region of Andalucia.
