Eagle Rock Studios Atlanta gets official opening for Georgia filming

New filming facility Eagle Rock Studios Atlanta has officially opened in the US state of Georgia. The studio offers multiple sound stages across two separate sites and could help Atlanta appeal to more productions like The Walking Dead and the Divergent and Hunger Games franchises.

Eagle Rock Studios doesn’t yet have any productions booked, but this is expected to change given Atlanta’s popularity as a US filming hub, reports local outlet CBS46.

“This is a beautiful, state-of-the-art facility and we're excited to have it as another asset for Georgia,” said Deputy Commissioner of the Georgia Film, Music & Digital Entertainment Office Lee Thomas, in comments to the outlet.

“Right now we've got 37 projects in Georgia, either television series, pilots, feature films, and we struggle to find places for all of them to go. So this is great to have.”

Eagle Rock Studios has already become part of the newly-established Georgia Studio & Infrastructure Alliance, which also encompasses Triple Horse Studios, Tyler Perry Studios, EUE/Screen Gems Studios Atlanta and Mailing Avenue Stageworks. The alliance will be a production advocate in Georgia, as well as focussing on the pressing need for a larger regional crew pool.

“It is important that we develop a film-ready workforce to meet the needs of the film productions that are advancing to Georgia,” said Georgia’s Lt Gov Casey Cagle, who will work in partnership with the new alliance.

“This great partnership will not only serve as a powerful economic generator for our state but will create jobs for Georgians and new opportunities for a highly skilled workforce.”
