Illinois says tax incentive is a success

Illinois Governor, Rod Blagojevich, has claimed that the reintroduction of the state's 20% tax incentive has been a great success.

It is estimated that USD21.5 million in revenue was generated from the filming of Gary Fleder's The Express and USD3 million each from Eagle Eye and The Lucky Ones.

Blagojevich said: “By renewing the tax credit, we have held on to our competitive position and are helping to ensure that filmmakers will continue coming here to make their movies.”

However, USD27.5 million in revenue still leaves Illinois far behind states such as Michigan with their USD400 million and counting.
