Yesterday at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, the nonprofit Sundance Institute, in partnership with the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, presented the juried Feature Film Prize to Cristina Costantini for her work on SALLY. Three artist grants designed to support projects in development were also announced for Ella Gale, Katla Sólnes and Brittany Wang. Previous recipients of the Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Prize include Sam & Andy Zuchero’s Love Me (2024), Chiwetel Ejiofor’s The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind (2019), and many more.

Robert Pattinson stars in the upcoming Mickey 17 from esteemed director Bong Joon-ho, marking his return to the black comedy genre following award-winning Parasite. The adaptation of Edward Ashton’s 2022 novel sees Pattinson play a disposable employee is sent on a human expedition to colonise the ice world Niflheim. The feature will be released in cinemas on 7 March.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has announced the nominations for its 2025 Film Awards, showcasing a wide array of talent and storytelling that has left a significant mark on the cinematic world over the past year. This year’s nominations include super star flicks of the past year including Emilia Pérez, Wicked, Blitz, Gladiator II and many more. Amongst the nominees, are FOCUS 2024 speakers Robin Carolan for Best Original Score in Nosferatu, Valerie Déloof, Victor Fleurant, Victor Praud, Stéphane Thiébaut, and Emanuelle Villard for sound in The Substance, as well as Peter Straughan for Best Original Screenplay, Nick Emerson in editing ,and Nina Gold and Martin Ware for casting for Conclave.
