As part of their 10 project production deal, Film AlUla and Stampede Venture announced the first two films set for release at this year’s Red Sea International Film Festival. Set to start production in the second quarter of 2024, the two projects will be thriller Fourth Wall and romance Chasing Red. The production partnership will spread across three years.
The Production Guild of Great Britain has announced their six nominees for the second annual Duke of Edinburgh Film and TV Inclusion Award. Hosted in association with Walt Disney Studios, the award celebrates and initiative that helps to foster and progress talent inclusion in Britain’s screen sector. This year’s talent showcase will return to The Savoy on Friday 8 February 2024.
The EUFCN Location Awards have announced their shortlisted entrants for the 7th edition of their celebration. Out of the five finalists selected by the jury, only one will succeed as the best use of location this year. Open for public vote, judging will run until 31 January 2024.
Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Film Festival is set to run its third edition from 30 November to 9 December in Jeddah. Announcing today the majority of it lineup, the festival will feature a slew of projects from the MENA region, including 11 feature films from Saudi Arabia itself. Themed as Your Story, Your Festival, this year’s celebration intends to be a showcase appreciating the growth of the local industry. Presiding over international jury will be filmmaker Baz Lurhmann.
On Tuesday 10 October, Film AlUla announced the winners for the first ever AlUla Creates Film Programme, celebrating creativity and empowering future generations in film. With a decision making panel including Saudi industry talent, Vertigo Films and Film AlUla representatives, the winners include Hana Alfasi, Maram Taibah and sisters Raneem and Dana Almohandes.
Netflix’s Heartstopper entered into production for their third season. The web comic adaptation started filming on a popular Dorset beach to continue the story of lead characters Charlie and Nick. The Alice Oseman created production will see the return of cast favourites for the third instalment of the show, which has yet to confirm a release date.
On 2 October, the American Black Film Festival (ABFF) announced that multi-hyphenated talent Issa Rae would lead as creative director for the 2024 edition of their annual celebration. The newly created role will see Rae working with ABFF co-founders and producers Nicole and Jeff Friday during the Miami Beach Florida held event from 12-16 June 2024.
In their venture with Peloton, Stink Studios take audiences into the world of Peloton far beyond their infamous bike. The project, made in partnership with Director Jones is a two part roll video roll out which highlights the multidimensionality of the Peloton fitness world and the importance and impact of their instructors.
