The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has announced the nominations for its 2025 Film Awards, showcasing a wide array of talent and storytelling that has left a significant mark on the cinematic world over the past year. This year’s nominations include super star flicks of the past year including Emilia Pérez, Wicked, Blitz, Gladiator II and many more. Amongst the nominees, are FOCUS 2024 speakers Robin Carolan for Best Original Score in Nosferatu, Valerie Déloof, Victor Fleurant, Victor Praud, Stéphane Thiébaut, and Emanuelle Villard for sound in The Substance, as well as Peter Straughan for Best Original Screenplay, Nick Emerson in editing ,and Nina Gold and Martin Ware for casting for Conclave.

The NAACP Image Awards are set to return for the 56th instalment of the celebration on 22 February. In the lead up to the momentous night, nominations for the coveted award were announced today across music, film, television and the overall entertainment industry. Leaders across the nominations include Ayo Edebiri, Keke Palmer, GloRilla, The Piano Lesson and Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist. The two hour show will live broadcast across BET and CBS.

Announced on 30 December, Hatton has been recognised for his services to visual effects and animation. This honour came as an apt celebration preceding the New Year arrival of the new VFX tax credit championed by Hatton and the UK Screen Alliance members.

After deliberation, the jury members have selected the shortlisted entries for the EUFCN Location Awards 2024. The finalist locations will compete for two distinct awards; The EUFCN Location Awards 2024, selected by the Location Awards Jury, and The EUFCN Audience Location Award 2024, selected by the public through online voting. Voting will close on 31 January 2025 with winners announced at the European Film Market 2025 in Berlin.

The Production Guild of Great Britain (PGGB) have announced the departure of CEO Lyndsay Duthie. After five years with the organisation, Duthie will take up a new role at the end of January 2025 as Pro Vice-Chancellor Academic Partnerships and Industry Engagement at University for the Creative Arts (UCA). The recruitment process for the new PGGB CEO will commence this week.
