FOCUS TALKS TO CARLA LIZIARIO OF MADE IN LISBON

Leading production service company Made in Lisbon has been exhibiting at FOCUS since the first edition. We caught up with Carla Liziario, Head of Production.

Carla what brings you and Made in Lisbon back to FOCUS again this year?
This will be the fourth time that we participate in FOCUS. The previous editions were great and we can see how the event has grown steadily each year.It’s an excellent place to meet with other professionals in the business and network with possible clients.

What are you hoping to get out of the event and what in particular will you be promoting at FOCUS 2018?

We will continue to push our position as creative partners for productions in Portugal. Not only will we promote our nice weather, the beauty of our locations and the professionalism of our crews, but we will also publicise the message that with MiL you also get a service offering knowledge and artistic value. Other than that we look forward to networking, meeting old and new contacts at FOCUS to enable us to continue to grow.

Please tell us briefly about Made in Lisbon?

MiL * Made in Lisbon started in the year 2000 and remains one of the leading production service companies in Portugal. The driving force is our experienced multi-lingual team and their smooth and cool problem-solving attitude towards any production challenge. We provide a wide range of production services from TV and web commercials to photo shoots, branded content and music videos. Simply send us a project and see how we can be of help for you.

What foreign productions have you provided production services for in the past few years?

This year, we have so far mainly been involved in commercials. We shot a very amusing campaign for AG Insurances Belgium with photorealistic cgi animals, which turned out really nice and fun. This was for our sister company MiB * Made in Brussels, who brought in Timekeepers from Passion Paris as directors. Cinematography was in the capable hands of our local talent Ricardo Prates and the agency was Famousgrey Belgium. We also shot a totally different campaign for another insurance company, Kaiser Permanente, which resulted in two very touching films. The agency was Campbell Ewald and the foreign production company Atswim worked with director Lisa Gunning and Director of Photography Tami Reiker.

Can you please tell us about the new cash rebate incentive program?

That will be one of the main topics we will talk about during FOCUS. Currently the details of the program are being finalised, therefore, the only information I can give is that: yes indeed, Portugal now has an attractive tax incentive program!

With the objective of getting from life as much experience as possible, because life is too short, Carla is a task-driven team motivator and conflict solver.  After her anthropology studies at the university of Lisbon, she learnt the ropes of production during almost a decade at Ready To Shoot before joining MiL * Made in Lisbon early 2013, where she is Head of Production, in charge of bidding, overlooking the whole inhouse production, handling client communication, booking and managing the production team, overseeing the budget, representing the company during international meetings, prospecting new clients and revisiting the current ones…. and all that with a relentless energy and a smile.
