  • I”m looking for old Cuba for quite a big shot. We can”t go to Cuba itself for various reasons, that”s why we are looking for somewhere where we could “cheat”. Which Caribbean country would be the best? Dominican Republic?. Could someone share some experiences with us. Thank you.

    Hello Agnieszka,

I´m not sure what exactly you are looking for – locations, props… but there are several places in Spain that have the colonial architecture similar to Cuba. I have attached a picture to give you an idea. There is one city in the south of Spain that is a match for Havana. If Spain works for you, please contact me and I´d be happy to send you pictures based on your brief.

Hola! Dear filmmaker looking to double Cuba:

I am a Puerto Rico Production Manager and in fact, our island have doubled for Cuba many many times. If you want an assessment on how to film here you can contact me by email or phone:

Puerto Rico also provides a great tax credit incentive as well as additional advantages over the Dominican Republic and other Latin American cities. Take the example of Fast and the Furious 5, they are beginning shooting in Puerto Rico next week for 6 weeks recreating Brasil as well as other cities in US.

    Looking forward to your response,
    Rosi Acosta

Hello Agnieszka!! Its been quite a few years since we’ve heard from you at Easy Hell!! Hope things are well in Poland!! YES!!! As you can see by the other responses the Dominican Republic is a PERFECT double for Cuba. Especially San Pedro de Macoris. We have doubled Cuba many times here in San Pedro including in Miami Vice, The Good Shepherd, varios Music Videos, Jay Holliday’s “Round 2” Album Packaging and in too many magazines and european catalgoues to name. We would love to finally see you here!
