    Hello Agnieszka,

    Here in Dominican Republic, been shot a number of films double as Cuba, such as: The Godfather II, Havana, The Lost City, Miami Vice, The Good Sheppard, Dreaming Of Julia, Etc. Look in my Picasa Web Albums.

    Hola Agnieska,
    I think we are the only production company that do both, shootings in Havana and Cartagena de Indias, Colombia. I can even imagine the kind of problems you have found in Cuba and the bureaucratic stress that you encountered. Anyways, think of Colombia, the most underrated production destination in the western world. Cartagena and Havana are sisters and that statement is not from me.     pls. check following link where we made a collection of cuban feeling on GRAN CANARIA / CANARY SILANDS / SPAIN. don’t you think this could work? – we shoot several times allready “CUBA” on Gran Canaria.

    Hi,
    ALTER Producciones Audiovisuales is located in Caracas, Venezuela. Where your will be able to double La Habana with incredible precision just like we did 2 years ago in the movie “Habana Eva” where all the story is located in La Habana, Cuba and we just shoot a 60% of the movie in Cuba and the rest here in Venezuela. The movie is releasing this Friday 23rd July.
    We also think is important to consider, since most of the countries with Caribbean shore can be a very good option to double La Habana, is that here in Venezuela we have a couple of extras:
    1- Because of our political situation the Cuban immigration in Venezuela has increased strongly in the past years, so you can count with real Cubans Casting at local prices.
    2- The devaluation of our currency against the US dollar, make us at the moment an incredible inexpensive location in Latin America.

    Hi Agniezka, every year I live three months in Havana. You can ‘double’ Havana in any run-down formal Spanish colony. Or even in an unpolished part of Spain. Keep in mind Havana is located along the sea. This means you should find a town which also overlooks the sea, because of the special light caused by the salted water. Strangely enough, even some poor parts at the east coast of Brasil (south from Bahia) remind me of Cuba. Brasil has been originally Portugese but still it looks very dramatic.
    In the last couple of years Old Havana has changed drastically. They fixed up part of it. It became very touristic and feels as if you walk through a slide show. I guess that’s not the atmosphere you are looking for?
