    Hello Jesse,

I got this request from one of your competitors in Australia, but unfortunately quinoa is out of season in both Bolivia and Peru right now. We tried to get the agency to move fast, as there were a few fields left in Peru for the next couple weeks, but apparently they couldn’t get it done that quickly.

Happy to help you location requests for quinoa in other times of the year. March and April are good target months.

    cheers, Bud Theisen

in reply to: Snow Slopes needed in June

    Hi Ted,

The beginning of June is a bit early for shooting ski slopes anywhere in South America, some years we might have snow cover by then, some years not, it all depends on the weather and when the first storms arrive. Much more reliable dates would be from June 15 – 30.

A great way to check on snow conditions anywhere in the world is to subscribe to http://www.snow-forecast.com/ they’re the best in the business.

Chile has some good options for mountains and snow, happy to help you with production services if you think we’re a fit for the project. More information on shooting snow here at: http://www.straightforwardfilms.com/SFF-newsletterWinter2009.pdf

I think this post may be a little misleading, Olivier, you’re working as a location scout in Chile, isn’t that right?

I’ve shot in the port before, https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=iYO07koA9Mo But shooting in the port in Valparaiso, and contacting the shipping lines are two different types of permissions, and you’re only looking for help with contacting the shipping lines that pass through the port, correct?

    cheers, Bud

in reply to: road with snow in mid of september

    Hello Claudio,

Despite what the other two posts from Chile seem to indicate, the middle of September is a bit late to get the snow conditions you’re looking for in the South of Chile. Some years the snow lasts that long, but so far this year we haven’t gotten enough snow to be very confident about it. Completely depends on the weather from here out.

There are a few locations that will have some snow, but usually the roads and trees are clear by that time. You would have to leave in generous amounts of snow dressing to get the looks you’re after.

    Cheers, Bud

in reply to: Carnet vs. Local Rental

    Hello Caroline,

Chilean customs is quite straightforward, as long as all the paperwork is filled out correctly, they’re sticklers for details. Make sure you’ve got all your cases correctly listed on the carnet, and don’t put anything disposable on there, you’ll need everything on it again on the way out of the country.

The local equipment rental houses are fairly good, and have just gotten much better with the addition of Congo Films to the market. It’s certainly worth quoting the gear you need locally before deciding to bring it all with you.

    cheers, Bud Theisen
