Producer Becky Brake approached the photo pod of a restored Ilyushin iL-14P at Berlin’s Tempelhof Airport and innocently inquired “what does that mean?” Sepi, our colleague from Lufthansa said, “Please Do not Touch!” Brake defensively replied, “I wasn’t going to touch it! I just wanted to know what it says…” Thus our first German lesson “Please do not touch.”

TPG Real Estate Partners – otherwise known as TREP – has unveiled its acquisition of Germany’s Studio Babelsberg. TREP is the dedicated real estate equity investment platform of alternative asset firm TPG, and Studio Babelsberg is the oldest large-scale film studio complex in the world. Dr. Carl L. Woebcken and Mr. Christoph Fisser (CEO and COO of Studio Babelsberg, respectively) are set to maintain a minority stake in the business.

Currently airing on the BBC, The Luminaries is the largest ever New Zealand TV series based on a local story that has ever been made in the country. Producer Lisa Chatfield says the BBC, TVNZ and Freemantle were "committed to ensuring that the series has the integrity and authenticity of the book - a story by a New Zealander, about New Zealand and made in New Zealand". Southern Light Films shot and produced the series in partnership with Working Title Television for the BBC.

I have a real patchwork vita but it has always been about media. I studied visual communications at college and my first experience with scouting was 18 years ago when I worked as a production assistant for a commercial production company. We had a big shoot for a Burger King spot coming up. The client wanted to shoot a Motorcycle Chapter Clubhouse full of bikers. I thought "this is exciting, I can do this".
